How far out can a widget go before you stop seeing the road?

A car ahead of you brakes at random. Heads-up widgets keep appearing on the windshield. Move them further from the centre and your reaction time gets worse — this rebuild lets you measure that on yourself.

What you are actually manipulating

Eccentricity is the angle between where you are looking (the car ahead) and where the information is drawn. It is the one variable the original apparatus exposed as a tunable parameter, and it is the design question underneath every heads-up display: put the widget where the driver is already looking and you occlude the road; put it out of the way and it stops being seen at all.
